Body
Physical Wellness is foundational to overall health. It is important that individuals take care of their bodies to promote overall physical health which also affects mental health. Being physically well means adopting healthy habits such as adequate sleep, exercise and healthy eating habits. It also means minimizing destructive or unhealthy habits such as binge-eating or drinking, substance abuse, lack of physical activity and not getting enough sleep.
Besides the “Big Three” areas of physical wellness that include sleep hygiene, nutrition and exercise, being physically well also means being responsible with your body and taking care of it to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Examples of being responsible with your body include:
- practicing safe sex
- managing mental health concerns
- taking medications regularly if you require them
- seeing a Doctor if you are unwell
- engaging in safe and healthy relationships
